Shower Pans & Bases: The Foundation of a Safe Shower

The pan decides whether a shower is truly accessible. Bestbath pans use a solid, reinforced floor rated for wheelchairs and shower chairs, a molded slope to the drain so water never pools, and a threshold you choose: barrier-free for rolling entry, or a beveled 3/4-to-1.5-inch curb for walkers. Every pan we sell has a tile flange on three sides and can be paired with Bestbath wall panels, a Crestline three-wall kit, or tile. We stock the sizes that replace a bathtub (60 x 30, 60 x 32, 60 x 33, 60 x 36) and the transfer and corner sizes (36 x 36, 48 x 34, 40 x 38), and Bestbath builds custom sizes to order.

Choosing a pan

• Match the alcove first: measure wall to wall at the pan level; walls are rarely square, so give us three measurements front, middle, back.
• Drain location: center, left or right. Moving the drain on a slab is possible but adds a day; on a framed floor it is easy.
• Threshold: zero for wheelchairs (needs a recessed subfloor or slight slope), beveled 3/4 inch for walkers and most shower chairs, 1.5 inch where the floor cannot be recessed.
• Pair the walls: each pan size has matching Bestbath wall panels; use the shower builder to see only the walls that fit.
